The Coaching Inn Group operates 35 hotels and coaching inns across the country, including Horncastle’s Admiral Rodney, and the Coaching Inn Group Awards celebrate those in the company who go the extra mile to provide the best service.

Head Chef of The Admiral Rodney, Lee Hall, has been named The Coaching Inn Group’s Head Chef of the Year, while Sean Chamberlain has been named Sous Chef of the Year.

Lee joined The Royal Navy in catering aboard the Type 23 frigate HMS Kent, and spent four years helping to cook and serve three meals a day to the 200-strong ship’s company.

He then spent 20 years working in the hotel and catering industry before ‘stepping aboard’ The Admiral Rodney four years ago.

Meanwhile Sean, who first joined the hotel’s catering team when he was just 18, has been named Sous Chef of the Year.

“We have a great camaraderie with our colleagues in the kitchen, and winning this award came as quite a surprise,” he said.

Speaking after the award ceremony, held in Lincoln, Adam Charity, Chief Operating Officer of the group, said it was the first time that two top catering awards had gone to the same hotel and that both Lee and Sean were “most worthy winners”.
