Three fire crews were called to reports of smoke coming from an oil-fired central heating boiler in Billinghay.
Crews from Billinghay, Metheringham and Sleaford were called out at 4.43pm yesterday (Tuesday) to reports of smoke issuing from the boiler connected to a house on Willow Lane.
According to a fire service spokesman, firefighters removed the burner from the boiler.
It is believed by investigators that the fire started from a cracked seal inside which caused excessive black smoke and incorrect combustion.
