Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Thursday December 6
Thursday December 6
SOFTSONG
Leicester 2.30 WIN
It should be a case of third time lucky for Philip Hobbs’s four-year-old hurdler, who has been recruited from France, where he had useful form on the Flat. On his UK debut, ridden prominently, he showed up well in a warm race at Cheltenham before fading into fifth. And then last time out at Huntingdon, when different tactics saw him held up in rear, he bumped into one of Alan King’s best young hurdlers, who outbattled him in the closing stages. A lovely, scopy sort, the gelded son of Singspiel still has to learn to settle properly, but jockey Richard Johnson will know him much better now and, against moderate opposition, he ought to be able to ride the race he wants.
