App launched for family trail

One of the best bluebell woods is Tattershall Carrs, which forms the last remaining remnants of ancient, wet, alder-dominated woodland that once ringed the margins of the Fens.

It also boasts a fascinating history.

The wood was part of RAF Woodhall Spa during the Second World War, which, of course, was home to the famous 617 ‘Dambusters’ squadron.

To help families appreciate these woodlands, the Trust has launched a new Nature Detectives Family Trail app for use at 24 of its sites, including Tattershall Carrs.

The augmented reality app brings two woodland fairies, Blue and Belle, to life as they lead families on a fun, magical trail through the woods.

There are challenges and activities to complete at marker points in each wood, to stop Foot the Giant trampling on the precious bluebells.
