Archive and website revealed

The contents of the Town Archive and an introduction to the Society's new website www.horncastlecivic.org.uk were given by chairman Mary Silverton at the first meeting of the year for the Horncastle History and Heritage Society.

The Town Archive, housed at the Sir Joseph Banks Centre on Bridge Street, contains a wealth of information about Horncastle, its people and its history, all painstakingly recorded onto a computer database by Mary and Vice Chairman Rod Sambrook.

The Archive, however, will never be complete; only in recent months has it received a mass of material about the Town and Horncastle College donated by local historian David Robinson.

The show was followed by project leaders’ reports, before being thrown open to the floor to discuss members’ concerns within the town, a major one being the footpath to Tesco store.
