Art exhibition coming to Horncastle

Following the success of last year's exhibition, the Sir Joseph Banks Centre, Horncastle is hosting 'Celebrating Lincolnshire Through Time' curated by local amateur artists Penny Roberts and Susan Buckley
This exhibition displays a collection of works by artists past and present, offering a visual representation of how Lincolnshire has changed over time. The exhibition portrays not only the changes that have taken place in the county, but displays a variety of styles of artwork used to capture these changes throughout its history.
The contemporary artwork displayed is all by Lincolnshire artists, both amateur and professional and includes textiles, metalwork, paintings in a variety of mediums, silver and pottery.
The exhibition endeavours to show the progression of art and includes historical jewellery provided by the Horncastle History and Heritage Society, displayed alongside silver produced by Horncastle jeweller Andrew Poole. A demonstration suitable for children will be given by Andrew on 7th December to coincide with Horncastle Christmas Market.

A section of the exhibition is devoted to a selection of portraits of Lincolnshire people, some born and bred, others who have played an interesting or significant role in the county's history.
The exhibition is free and includes booklets for visitors to take away with them, one of which provides contact details for the artists who have work for sale.
It is supported by many talented and well known artists, including Ash Buckingham, Karen Christensen, Lynn Norris, Nikki Bennett and Anne Povey, to name just a few. There will be the rare opportunity to see an original painting by Fraser Scarfe.
