Belton House hosts festival’s final outdoor film screenings

Wollaton Hall, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and Hardwick Hall have all recently hosted screenings, giving film lovers a unique experience of their favourite classic and contemporary movies.

In a real treat for Batman fans, the Dark Knight Rises was shown at Wollaton Hall, where much of it was filmed, leading to cheers from the audience each time the iconic venue appeared during the film.

A moment of real theatre – that could not have been scripted better – set the tone for the evening, as an actual bat flew low over the heads of the audience as Batman’s symbol flashed up to signal the start of the feature.

And to cap a fine summer’s night, the credits gave way to a marriage proposal on the giant screen.

The festival reaches its conclusion with two nights at Belton House in Grantham.

The 1942 classic Casablanca will be the feature on Friday night, while sing-a-long feel good flick Mamma Mia! plays on Saturday night.

Doors for both showings open at 6.30pm, and tickets can be purchased in advance at the venue or from the QUAD box office on 01332 290606.

Audience members are encouraged to come equipped for a comfortable experience, with camping chairs, warm clothes and blankets recommended.
