Bluffing wine at Ludford Twinners

About 50 people went along to the village hall for what the association believes was the Wolds village’s first “Call My Bluff” wine tasting evening.

The tone was set when experts David and Jenny Lofthouse, who make their own wines at the Three Sisters Vineyard in Claxby, and Simon Hickson, from Hainton’s Heneage Arms community pub, admitted they all knew a bit about wine but were definitely not French wine experts.

They were, however, good at telling convincing lies.

The experts gave a description for each wine while everyone was sampling it, but which of them was telling the truth?

As the experts got into their stride, it became increasingly difficult to say.

At the end of the evening, the winning team took home a bottle of each of the wines sampled as their prize.

Afterwards, the new chairman of the Twinning Association, Tony Dean was exuberant.

“As well as being a really good night out, we raised a substantial sum towards funding the next visit to Lincolnshire in 2017 by our French partners,” he said.

The Association’s next event will be a family car treasure hunt on Saturday May 14.
