Children were invited to sign up over the school holidays and read at least six books to earn a certificate and other exciting treats, as well as joining in free, themed activities at libraries throughout the summer.
Aimed at children aged 4 to 11, Read to the Beat was all about celebrating the joy of music and the power it has to move, inspire and connect us – all through the magic of reading. Younger siblings could join in a special Mini-Challenge just for them to take part in.
Sleaford Library presented certificates to all its challenge achievers at a drop-in event on Saturday (September 12) and invited families to join in a free workshop with the Band From County Hell Clansmen Drummers.
Sleaford Library manager Charlotte Harris said: “We’re proud of all the children that came into the library to celebrate their reading achievements and what better way to end than with a drumming workshop.
"We have hit our target of over 340 children and have had way more than that joining in.”
