A local radio presenter is celebrating this week after his recently released debut novel broke into the top ten of an Amazon bestseller chart. Shed, Sing, Run, the humorous debut by G-Town Radio Presenter Craig Bunday, has already started attracting attention from readers who enjoy witty fiction with heart - and a twist of the unexpected.

The book follows three seemingly ordinary men as they navigate redundancy, rock choir mishaps, and an ill-advised journey into amateur running. What begins as a light-hearted look at modern middle-aged life soon takes on a surreal edge, culminating in an other-worldly finale that critics have called “brilliantly unexpected.”

“I’ve been developing the individual stories for a few years,” said Craig. “A lot of the moments are inspired by real life - the sort of observations and conversations you jot down thinking ‘I must use that somewhere.’ A lot of it is used on my Radio Show that get's broadcast by syndication around the country. Once I pieced together how it would all link in the final part, the whole thing clicked.”

When asked about genre, Craig admits it’s been a challenge to label. “It’s currently riding high in Amazon’s ‘Lad Literature’ and went straight into ‘Irish & British Humour’ when it was launched, but it does… shift,” he laughed. “A few readers have compared parts to Douglas Adams, others mentioned Nick Hornby, Kurt Vonnegut and even Monty Python. Which is wonderfully flattering and also slightly terrifying!”

Buoyed by early success, Craig already has plans for more. “I’ve mapped out a few different book ideas, but there’s definitely room to revisit Shed, Sing, Run. I have an idea for a second book, to complete the trilogy! That may sound illogical, but if you read the book, you’ll understand why it makes sense.”

Shed, Sing, Run is available now in paperback on Amazon, and free to read on Kindle Unlimited.
