Titter with Tea thanks to local poet

A Lissington woman has released her first book of poetry and has been amazed at the positive response to the publication.

Titter with Tea is a collection of poems, rhymes and wordplay by Joyce Lingard, using her pen name Joy Ling.

“I have spoken to a number of groups and read some of my poetry and people always asked if I had written any books - so now I have,” said Joyce.

“I have been amazed by the response - people have said they have really enjoyed it, which is very nice to hear.”

The poems are mostly humorous and Joyce says there is something for all ages to enjoy.

“I am writing all the time - I’ve got plenty enough for a second book,” added Joyce, who is a member of the Market Rasen-based West Wolds Writers Group.

“If something comes into my head, I write it down - it is just what I know and what I see.”

The poems vary in length, but this is one of the shorter ones, called A Steamy Affair:

February is the month of love

With Valentine included

Hearts and flowers everywhere

Still I am not deluded

With three of us in this romance

It could be a daunting factor

But I just look at them and smile

His first love is his tractor.

Titter with Tea is on sale now, priced £4.99, and is available from Something Special in Market Rasen’s Queen Street, Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre and Brigg Tourist Information Centre.
