Country's largest model railway to open its doors

GAINSBOROUGH Model Railway Society will be opening its doors this Saturday and Sunday, 20th and 21st June for the public to see this huge railway, the largest in the country.

The unique 'O' gauge railway represents the East Coast Main Line from King's Cross to Leeds in the days of steam with models such as the West Riding Ltd hauled by LNER A4s in the distinctive garter blue livery and other trains in the later British Railways liveries of "blood and custard" and maroon.

There is also a vast selection of goods locomotives and rolling stock plus a few diesel locos such as the Deltic and Class 37s.

The railway, which fills the former Victorian school in Florence Terrace, is open from 1.30pm to 6pm on both days.
