A evening of comedy at Worksop Library

Laughs are guaranteed at the Him Off The Telly comedy special at Worksop Library next week.

Audiences will be treated to a laugh-a-minute night, featuring Rob Rouse, Alfie Moore, Steve Goodall and Nick Parry, compered by Anthony J. Brown.

With more energy than a hyperactive six-year-old sucking a lollipop while bouncing on a spacehopper, Rob Rouse has a shed-load of TV credits including 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Dave’s One Night Stand, Celebrity Juice, The Friday Night Project, Live At The Comedy Store, Edinburgh And Beyond and Spoons.

He is a veteran of several critically acclaimed Edinburgh Festival shows and two sold-out national theatre tours, firmly establishing him as one of comedy’s most lively performers.

Alfie Moore, who was described by Rhod Gilbert as ‘fascinating and funny’ has recently appeared in ITV1’s stand-up competition Show Me The Funny.

He is an original and distinctive comedian with his niche area as a serving police sergeant. He came to comedy slightly late and brings a wealth of insights and comedy moments from his 18 years on the beat.

Alfie has also written and performed his own one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for two consecutive years for the full 22 nights.

His relaxed, observational comedic style, which lends itself to witty and sometimes gritty, anecdotes based on everyday modern policing, also provides belly laughs a-plenty.

Steve Goodall and Nick Parry, and Anthony J. Brown complete the line-up.

Anthony J. Brown has been running gigs in Worksop since 2007.

“It started with a monthly club at The Regal which ran for four years and was a joy to perform at, leading to some fantastic nights of comedy with excellent audiences and a marvellous array of headline acts including Sarah Millican, Pete Firman and Robin Ince.”

“I’ve put on a few shows at Worksop Library at approximately three month intervals which have been hugely enjoyable, including next week’s gig which boasts quite probably the strongest line up I’ve ever managed to tempt down Worksop way.”

“It features Rob Rouse and Alfie Moore, two brilliant acts with television credentials including 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Celebrity Juice and Show Me The Funny. Plus both chaps are due to undertake solo UK theatre tours later in the year.

“Thus the lucky Worksop folk have the opportunity to witness two touring acts in one night for the ludicrously agreeable price of eight quid.”

“And the night also includes yours truly in the compere role along with a fantastic new Sheffield act Steve Goodall and the besuited award-winning one-liner merchant Nick Parry who won the Ribticklers New Act competition at the Library last August.”

Tickets cost £8, £6 concessions. Doors 7pm for an 8pm start.
