Zombie comedy needs your help to bring it to life

Currently in pre-production, ‘Jack and Guill’ sees drag queens and homophobic skinheads having to put their differences aside, to fight an even greater enemy – the undead horde.

The brains behind the project is Sleaford man James Hodcroft, who is currently crowdfunding for a minimum of £20,000 to finance the indie film.

“The screenplay has been morphing quite a lot recently with various changes, including those to ensure we have a running time of around one hour and 10 minutes,” said James, 35.

“I also have a friend who is a drag queen who I’ve asked to go over the script, as I wanted to represent that world as authentic and not present the stereotypical view.

“I’ve had such a lot of interest in the film already – including actors from Emmerdale, and EastEnders and one from the Transformers film. It’s been incredible. Now it’s just a matter of getting the money together.”

The filmmaker, who has a background in acting and music, is building up an army of supporters and collaborators, from actors and crew to investors. He is particularly keen to engage local businesses by offering free promotion in return for their donation.

“It’s also a chance for people to be a part of something pretty cool,” he says. “The film will be mainly set and filmed in Lincoln. I don’t think anything on this scale has happened in Lincolnshire before.”

He says he hopes Jack and Guill will work on many cinematic levels – and be both touching as well as ‘utterly ridiculous’.
