This weekend, Gainsborough Choral Society will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the World War I with the concert In Flanders Field at All Saints’ Church in Gainsborough.

The group will be performing the Rutter Requiem (1985) and the Haydn Mass in Time of War composed in 1796.

Both pieces express an anti-war sentiment despite being of a lyrically joyful nature showing hope for the future.
