Happy Birthday to Hoot...

RECORD numbers enjoyed a night of laughter and celebration at the Hoot Comedy Club fifth birthday bash.

An audience of 114 filled the seats at Trinity Arts Centre, much to the delight of organisers and performers.

“The acts were superb, particularly London circuit regular Andrew Watts who we were very privileged to get,” said organiser and compere Elliot J Huntley who hails from Gainsborough.

“And our headliner Sully O’Sullivan all the way from New Zealand ‘stormed it’, as they say.”

“The night went very well - better than our wildest dreams.”

To mark five years and more than 60 shows, Elliot was given a cake by the Arts Centre and some audience members even sent cards.

Elliot said ticket sales and audience enthusiasm showed the Hoot Comedy Club was going ‘stronger than ever’.

“It’s a lovely room, a good night and I hope Gainsborough folk will continue to support us, who knows for five more years,” he said.

Look out for the next monthly line-up from Hoot Comedy Club on Thursday 10th May.

The coming months hope to see more top acts in Gainsborough, including Edinburgh Festival preview shows.
