Historic towns take centre stage in exhibition

The exhibition opens today (Wednesday) and focuses on the trade and businesses within the towns of Market Rasen and Caistor over the years.

The market place was the focal point of the community and was the place for folk to exchange gossip and go about day to day business.

This exhibition will focus on how they promoted their business, particularly featuring advertisements from Victorian times.

The directories of the day were invaluable in detailing the number of butchers, shoemakers, blacksmiths, grocers, drapers, bakers - the list is beyond the imagination of the modern citizen.

There will be a meet the artist event this Saturday, from 11.30am to 1.30pm, when members of Rasen Heritage and Caistor Civic Society, who collaborated on the exhibition will be on hand to answer questions.
