Keep an eye out for Daleks and the TARDIS at sci-fi event

Fans of all things sci-fi shouldn’t miss a great event coming to the region next month.

Sci-fest is returning to The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe on Sunday November 2 from 11am to 5pm following the success of last year’s event with sci-fi fans across the region.

Last year’s sci-fi festival saw 600 people take over venue helping raise £1,000 for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Star Wars fans should watch out for the Sentinel Squad Stormtroopers. Beware anyone not behaving – you will risk an imperial arrest by the Squad!

William Hussey, author of Witchfinder: Dawn of the Demontide will be inviting people to take part in his mock witch finder trial at the event. Will you find any witches at the event?

You will be able to find out more about William and his family’s interesting life. William’s family toured with fairgrounds and circuses for centuries. After all this travelling his family finally settled in Skegness where William helped his uncle, who owned the town’s scariest ghost train.

As well as all of these great guests and activities there will be:

Ask a Dalek

Replica sci-fi props

Exciting fan films

Sci-fi and comic cosplay contest

Sci-fi themed quiz, competitions and karaoke

There will also be some specialist retailers at Sci-fest offering a wide range of sci-fi memorabilia including Sheffield Space Centre, Resurrection Comics, Wildcard and Star Stores Memorabilia.

Councillor Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customer services, sport and leisure, said: “Last year was our first ever Sci-fest at The Baths Hall and it was a great success, which is why we decided to hold another this year. Year-on-year our events of this kind are improving. We first started off with a small event at North Lincolnshire Library but due to the popularity we created our very own Sci-fest. This wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers and fans to organise the event.
