Libraries Week is the annual showcase of the best that UK libraries of all kinds have to offer.

In 2018, the focus is on wellbeing, with libraries across the county showing how they bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity, and help people of all ages with their mental health and wellbeing.

The team at Woodhall Spa Library has planned a range of activities with a wellbeing focus for adults and children, including author talks, children’s book group and even rock decorating!

There is also, as always, the chance to choose from the wide ranging collection of books, which includes titles from the national Books on Prescription and Shelf Help schemes.

There will also be a DVD and talking three-for-two book sale running throughout the week.

Jude Hall, library manager at Woodhall Spa for GLL, said: “We have a brilliant programme of activities during Libraries Week that we hope will bring the community together.

“Everyone is welcome and the library is free to join.”

Young library users can enjoy two storytime sessions - on Tuesday, October 9, from 2pm to 2.30pm and Friday, October 12, from 10.30am to 11am.

Bookbugs, the children’s book club for those aged eight years and above, will run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday, October 9, while the Bookworm Gang, a story club for four to eight-year-olds, will be held on Thursday, October 11, from 3.45pm to 4.30pm - and will include rock decorating.

For all ages, there is the chance to learn to crochet on Thursday, October 11.

Learn the basics between 2.30pm and 3.30pm and maybe even start your own small project.

A really special event next week will be the children’s storytime event on Saturday, October 13, from 10.30am to 11.30am, with children’s writer Paul Purnell.

Paul is the author of ‘Marco and the Pharaoh’s Curse’; a tale of adventure, mermaids and treasure in the Mediterranean Sea.

Join him for this interactive morning where he will be reading excerpts from Marco, answering questions and signing copies of his book.

Jude said: “I’m delighted that children’s author Paul Purnell will be taking part in our celebration week and I am also really excited about the launch of our #LincsLibrariesRock! project.”

Hidden around Woodhall Spa will be decorated rocks featuring literary characters or quotes.

Will you find the Gruffalo hiding in the woods, or stumble across Matilda in the library?!

When you find a rock, take a pic and post to the Lincolnshire Libraries Facebook page @LincsLibraries, then re-hide the rock for someone else to discover!
