Male voice choir begins season

The highly-regarded Dore Male Voice Choir will be launching the Music At The Crossing 2012 programme in Worksop tomorrow night.

The Sheffield-based choir will be joined at The Crossing by the Bish-Thompson Duo, an unusual instrumental pairing of trumpet and classical guitar.

Formed in 1964, the choir’s track record includes Eisteddfod, TV and radio performances.

Musical director Elizabeth Hampshire has brought continuing improvements in repertoire and performance standard since she took on the role 18 months ago.

Accompanist and musical arranger Paul Green produces a wide-ranging and imaginative programme which spans Mozart and Schubert through to Rodgers & Hart and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Very little music is written or arranged for trumpet and classical guitar duos but the brilliant guitarist Gregory Bish and trumpeter Anthony Thompson are changing all that.

They inject an impressive and imaginative instrumental contrast into the choral programme.
