Memorial fishing day reels in the cash

The 10th annual Carl Panton memorial fishing day raised more than £3,500 for charity.

Carl, a keen fisherman from Sleaford, died from leukaemia in 2007, aged 24.

Each year, his family organise a memorial fishing day, and have raised more than £20,000 for Bloodwise – a blood cancer charity – over the last decade.

The event at Whitehouse Farm Lakes, in North Kyme, attracted 40 competitors, with Dave Woolerton, of Dave’s Peg Angling Centre, in Sleaford, organising the fishing, an auction and a raffle.

A spokesman for the Panton family said they wished to thank all the competitors, Dave and his team, and Debbie and Colin Curtis, who own Whitehouse Farm Lakes.
