Migrating birds and stars feature at Gibraltar Point

The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust will play host to a series of guided walks and outdoor events - starting this weekend.

The first of these will be a “seawatch” event where visitors are given the chance to learn more about autumn seabirds and their movements around the Wash.

Those taking part may be lucky enough to see some of the following birds: Terns, Skuas, Auks and Gulls.

This event will be taking place on the beach, on Saturday, September 10 from 4.30pm until 7pm, out from Mill Hill and is free to everyone.

To access, park at the beach car park and follow the path to the beach.

Additionally, those with an added interest in birds will have a chance to join in on the Autumn Migration guided walk which is set to take place on Sunday, September 18.

Running from 8.30am until 11.30am, participants will be given the chance to join the Gibraltar Point nature reserve bird expert as they discover more about the migrating birds arriving at Gibraltar Point for the winter.

This walk is followed by an optional bowl of soup and is priced at £2 for adults or £5 with soup, and £1 for children or £4 with soup.

To round off the month, astronomer Paul Money will be at Gibraltar Point on Friday, September 30 from 7.30pm to 10pm.

This will give those interested a chance to see the stars, planets and constellations of the autumn sky.

Visitors may also be able to see Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter.

The evening is priced at £3.50 for adults and £2 for children.
