Music is a Japanese and Chinese fusion

But an upcoming concert at the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham offers something a little different.

‘Oriental Wind’ features both traditional and contemporary Chinese and Japanese music, played by a group of talented local musicians.

A highlight of the show will be music played on the Guzheng, a Chinese plucked string instrument also referred to as the ‘Chinese harp’. Award-winning musician Jevon Law will play the traditional instrument, which dates back to 403BC.

He said: “I believe that this will be a completely new and refreshing experience to the audience in Grantham, as our music is more than just for hearing - it is also a sense for feeling.”

Y.U.Elements is behind the concert. Established by Jevon, Y.U.Elements aims to promote and share the rich Asian heritage through classical, folk and contemporary music.

‘Oriental Music’ is on at the Guildhall on Friday, March 23, from 7pm.
