New showcase opens at NCCD

To mark the opening of its summer exhibition, Sleaford's National Centre for Craft and Design (NCCD) held a long-weekend of activities.

Cause and Effect has opened at the Carre Street venue, billed as a ‘thought-provoking look at artists’ responses to adversity’.

To celebrate its launch, the NCCD held a private view, live craft demonstrates, new shop showcases and hands-on craft activities across three days from last Friday.

Bookings are now being taken for its summer programme. Events include:

n A ceramics workshop with artists Anna Barlow based on her dropped ice cream works on Monday, July 25, from 12-4.30pm.

n An introduction to the 
basics of the silversmithing with local jeweller Andrew Poole on Saturday, July 9, and Saturday, September 3, from 10am-4pm.

n A chance for young people aged 12-plus to work with professional artists and designers at Summer Sessions on Mondays from July 25-August 22, 10am-4pm.
