Pauper’s opera at Thoresby

A SPECIAL performance of the folk opera The Pauper’s Path will be held at Thoresby Riding Hall Theatre near Ollerton next month with proceeds going to the Southwell Care Project.

Written by Mick Ryan, The Paupers’ Path is based on research carried out by him about Southwell workhouse. Mick also acts in it alongside an illustrious cast and members of the Thoresby Colliery Band.

It tells the tale of seven people forced by circumstance to enter the dreaded workhouse of the 19th century but who are able, by courage and determination, to escape it’s clutches.

The show will be on 4th February at 8pm. Tickets are £12 adults and £8 children and can be bought via PayPal from www.ruralrootsmusic.co.uk from Thoresby including credit/debit cards on 01623 822009 or from Southwell Library (cash and cheques only).
