Pirates coming to the Majestic

One of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best known works, The Pirates of Penzance is an ideal play for those unfamiliar with the colourful world of operetta.

Produced by Martin Yates, it features a full orchestra and a cast of talented home grown singers.

It tells the story of pirate apprentice Frederic who falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major General Stanley.

When pirates descend on the beautiful maidens and decide to carry them off to be married, the General pleads on their behalf saying he is an orphan and winning a reprieve for his daughters. The General is terrified the pirates will uncover his lie but Frederick eases his fears, promising to apprehend the band and put an end to their plundering.

The show is on from Wednesday 10th to Sat 13th October at Retford’s Majestic Theatre. Tickets £11.
