Popular beer festival set to entertain the crowds in Wainfleet this weekend

THE ever-popular Batemans Brewery Beer Festival returns with a bang in Wainfleet this weekend.

On Friday evening and all day Saturday the visitor centre at the popular brewery will reverberate to live music and good times - all the while accompanied by cracking beer.

The event is expected to feature beers from around the country, as well as Batemans’ selection of good honest ales.

The fun begins on Friday, April 13 between 6.30pm and 11pm when Doctor Busker and his amazing traditional beer festival band will be back by popular demand to entertain the public in the visitor centre.

The festival will continue on Saturday, April 14 between 11am and 6pm.

“What makes this different to other beer festivals held in the visitors’ centre is that, for every pint drunk, Batemans will be donating money to the health charity Walk The Walk,” said a spokesperson.

“All funds raised by Walk The Walk supports research, campaigns and projects where it is often difficult to find funding but vital for cancer patients throughout the UK.

“With one in eight women expected to experience some form of breast cancer, and more and more men being diagnosed, Walk the Walk also emphasises the importance of maintaining a healthy weight and active lifestyle.”

Batemans’ association with Walk the Walk isn’t just confined to the beer festival.

Managing director Jaclyn Bateman will be taking part in Walk the Walk’s MoonWalk in London on May 12, when around 17,000 men and women will gather in Hyde Park before power-walking round the streets of the capital wearing decorated bras over a 26.2 mile marathon course.

Jaclyn said: “If a year ago someone said to me that this time next year I would be getting ready to stride 26.2 miles round London I would think they were mad, especially in a decorated bra.

“However, I have now done a few 20 mile walks and am now ready for the challenge of 26.2 miles.

“Admittedly I have not yet tried walking in just my bra (and shorts). I think I will wait until the May 12 to do that!”
