Programme announced for SO Festival 2015 in Lincolnshire

The 11-day event includes international musicians, world-renowned theatre and some of the most innovative dance acts as part of the line-up, which is now available on the festival’s website.

Festival-goers can expect exciting attractions and amazing performances at seven different towns across East Lincolnshire, ending in Skegness for a three-day spectacular finale.

Taking place from June 25 to July 5 in Horncastle, Louth, Alford, Woodhall Spa, Mablethorpe, Spilsby and Skegness, the festival is always a popular event for locals and visitors from across the region.

Lorna Fulton, festival director for SO Festival is looking forward to the event more than ever now the programme has been released.

She said: “The diversity of acts on this year’s programme really shows how unique the festival is going to be this year with so many new and exciting attractions.

“The Travelling Show of Outrageous Novelty will make sure visitors don’t miss any of the action. Look out for the festival barker with his ukulele and kazoo leading the way to all places of magic and entertainment each day.

“One of the main highlights this year will be Wheel House performed by Acrojou where visitors will walk alongside the narrative show as it unfolds inside the circular hand-made set, as it rolls along. It is a stunning piece of theatre to watch including breath-taking moments and acrobatics that has already been well-received in eight countries across the world.”

Award-winning world-travelled, FlameOz will bring explosive fire dancing at its finest to Horncastle and Wet Picnic promises to give audiences an unforgettable theatre experience with ‘The Lift’.

“An elegant elevator arrives accompanied by three bellhops and audiences are invited to come forward and choose a moment by selecting one of nine different buttons. Each floor represents a different scene or event that is then performed for the audience member,” explained Lorna.

“The family-friendly event has grown from strength to strength since its humble beginnings in 2009. Every year we’ve seen the event grow to offer even more days on the programme and visiting even more towns across Lincolnshire.”

Lorna added: “The team at SO Festival has been working very hard to make sure that this year’s festival is the biggest and best one ever and now visitors can find out everything the festival has to offer.

“The event is always very popular among locals and visitors as there is such a variety of entertainment to suit all ages. I cannot wait for the festival to start!”

SO Festival was awarded National Portfolio Funding from Arts Council England in 2014 with the aim to promote and present the best festival arts and entertainment to new audiences and creating new opportunities and experiences.

Aimed at a family audience, the festival remains as one of the most exciting and innovative outdoor art festivals in the UK.

Entry and all events at SO Festival are free (except the British Cycling Championships and Lincolnshire School Prom).

Please note that Louth events, the Encore Screening of Richard II, Royal Shakespeare Company on July 4 and the Cosi Fan Tutte, Garsington Opera at Wormsley on July 5 is a walk to event as there is no parking available at the event site. Please use the town centre car parks.
