Rasen's Festival Hall set for spectacular open day
As Market Rasen Town Council prepares to bid for £400,000 to renovate the hall, business associate Nicola Marshall has been appointed to promote the facility - and therefore increase the chance of winning grant funding.
As part of this, Ms Marshall has organised an open day, which will include free taster sessions in belly dancing, wrestling, keep fit, zumba, line dancing and ballroom dancing.
And there will be a puppet show, a scene performed from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, soft play, a disco and karaoke and children’s entertainment.
Ms Marshall said: “We’re opening the doors so people can see the venue and what it’s like to hire it for private functions and parties.
“They can see the facilities and what’s going on in there.
“It’s about showing the venue and encouraging people to use it.”
And there will be a chance for people to join in the project.
“Also it is a chance for people to offer their time and ideas - if they want to run a club, group or activity then they can talk to us about this.
“I will be launching the Friends of Festival Hall - which is for people who can volunteer their time, ideas, expertise to make our vision of the Festival Hall being the go-to venue in the town and beyond,” said Ms Marshall.
The open day will also see members of the town’s flower club displaying their work and part of the hall will be dressed in the style of a wedding.
Designers’ plans for how the hall could look will be on display, and people are invited to take along their old photos of the hall for other people to look at.
Ms Marshall said: “There’ll be lots going on throughout the day.
“It’s just an opportunity to get in there and see what it’s all about.
“People can take part or just observe.
“There’s something for everybody.”
The open day will take place from 10am until 3pm.
In a separate event, a free tea dance will take place at Festival Hall on Sunday, April 17, from 3pm until 5pm.
This will be hosted by Gary and Gwen Cole and follows a successful free dance on March 13.
