Riff reign can’t refrain from rocking
David explains: “I spent most of my career working at Rotherham Council and the latter years as clerk to Everton, Gringley on the Hill, Mattersey, and Misterton parish councils.
“But I’ve always had a hankering to get back to my musical roots.

“So earlier this year, I went to Swanyard Music in Retford to begin recording a number of songs I’ve recently written. I was fortunate to work with keyboard player James Bennett (from Retford), Peter Courcey on percussion and vocals (Dinnington), and Richard Nettleship, guitars and vocals (Worksop).
“Guest artist Keith Martin on mandolin and melodeon (Firbeck) completes the line-up. James is also the Studio Engineer at Swanyard Music. I’m indebted to Swanyard Music, who’ve provided a great service.”
As the group gelled, they called themselves Riff Reign. They’ve now completed an album of 11 songs (see below) with a bonus track, Rio Grande, another of David’s songs, recorded by East Side Rhythm Aces. It’s not easy to categorise their music as it’s quite varied, but it’s in the rock music genre. All songs are originals, written by David Wright and developed by the musicians involved:
My Heart Shed A Tear
She’s Nice
Touchdown London
Down To The Town
Guess I’m Getting Closer
Last Night
So Many Years
Let’s Make Up Tonight
Got My Eyes On You
It’s Not The Same
We Wrote The Songs
Bonus Track: Rio Grande
Now another nine songs are ready for Riff Reign’s second album.
