The Bloodhound SSC is a land speed record car capable of reaching speeds of up to 1,000 mph.

If you are aged between seven and 13 can take part in a workshop all about the Bloodhound.

Choose from three one-hour sessions during which you will see a short movie about the team.

Organisers are also hoping to bring the full size replica car to the event, having raised over half of their funding from local companies.

Then you will take part in a challenge to build and race a balloon powered vehicle. The builder of the car which travels the furthest will get a prize.

While the children are busy, parents will get a guided tour of the engineering school and refreshments will be available.

For those wanting to find out more about the engineering challenges behind the Bloodhound project, there will be a technical presentation on Monday evening.

The free lecture, from 5.30pm - 8pm, will see a member of the Bloodhound team explain the car’s power systems, aerodynamics and control systems.

It is open to all and will be held in the Lincoln University Jackson Lecture Theatre.

This event is organised by Lincolnshire Engineering Panel which features members of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Institute of Engineering Technology, in partnership with Lincoln University Engineering School.
