Doctor Who actor and The Archers performer coming to Boston as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson
Doctor Who actor Colin Baker and The Archers performer Terry Molloy are to take to the stage in Boston next week.
Colin and Terry, who met while filming Doctor Who in the 1980s as hero and villain respectively, will perform the Sherlock Holmes radio play The Sign of Four at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre on Thursday (March 19).
The duo are reprising their roles as Holmes and Dr. Watson after an acclaimed tour last year.
“Sherlock Holmes was always a favourite of mine,” said Colin. “When I was at school, if you won a prize, they were always books – you were allowed to choose your own book, within reason obviously. I chose, for two of my prizes, the complete long stories of Sherlock Holmes, and the complete short stories of Sherlock Holmes, which I still have a home with the little Upper Fourth Handwriting Prize certificate, because I enjoyed reading them avidly.”
Colin appeared as the sixth doctor in cult BBC1 series Doctor Who between 1984 and 1986. His small-screen CV also includes The Brothers, Blake’s 7, Casualty, The Bill, Roland Rat – The Series, The Kenny Everett Show, Top Gear and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! and theatre appearances take in portraying Great Expectations, Hamlet, Wizard of Oz, Run For Your Wife, and Inspector Morse in House of Ghosts.
Terry made his debut as Mike Tucker in long-running BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers in 1973. He has also played Boko in Risky City, which earned him a Sony Award, and Davros in Doctor Who and trod the boards in An Inspector Calls, Godspell and Sleuth.
The Sign of Four takes place at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at blackfriarsartscentre.co.uk
