Oh yes it is!.......It's panto time again at The Lion Theatre in Horncastle

Oh yes it is!…….It’s panto time again in Horncastle, with family fun, laughs, entertainment and chaos guaranteed at The Lion Theatre.

For more than 40 years, Horncastle Theatre Company has been delighting audiences with its panto, written in-house and always boasting an angle or twist specific to the town.

This year’s production, which opens this coming Thursday (January 29) at 7.30 pm looks sure to intrigue if its title is anything to go by – ‘Snow White And The Out-Of-Work Actors’!

A spokesperson for the company said: “It’s a load of fun, with good vocals and great costumes, featuring a wicked crow and his two ‘hench-crows’ in cahoots with the Wicked Queen!”

Written by Gareth Alder and directed by Russell Alder, the show also runs on Friday January 30 and Saturday January 31, and then resumes from Wednesday, February 4 to Saturday, February 7 inclusive, all at 7.30 pm. There are also matinees at 3 pm on Saturday, January 31, Sunday, February 1 and Saturday, February 7, which have already sold out.

Tickets at the 96-seat theatre always go fast, so it’s advisable to book as soon as possible. You can do this via the company’s website or in person at the box office, Kennedy’s in the Bull Ring, and all the tickets are priced £10, with no concessions.

The theatre group, which is a registered charity, aims to put on a varied programme of several shows each year at the cosy Bull Ring theatre, which was refurbished ten years ago.

It says it aims to “deliver captivating performances that connect and inspire the local community through shared stories and creative expression”.

A flourishing organisation, it also has two youth sections for youngsters aged seven to 18 and hosts weekly club nights, with informal play readings and workshops.

The company is always on the lookout for new members and volunteers – and not just budding actors. There are often vacancies for jobs, such as set designers, scenery builders, lighting and sound people, prompts, front-of-house staff, costume-makers, graphic artists, musicians and many others.

After the panto, the group’s Young Stagers youth section presents ‘Peter Pan – The Musical’ from Thursday, May 14 to Saturday, May 16.
