Top swimathon teams praised

President of the Rotary Club of Sleaford, John Elkington has praised all those who took part in the club's annual Swimathon in November.

He said the event this time raised £9,000 for Rotary charities thanking the public and businesses for the wonderful support to make it such a success, aiding both national and international disasters when they occur.

The event had seen 190 swimmers in 47 teams swim a total of 10,497 lengths of the Sleaford Leisure Centre pool, enough to swim across the English Channel eight times.

The top team this year was one from the Sleaford Tri3 Club, the “Trinamites”, whose swimmers averaged 112 lengths each, with one member, John Hilton, swimming an amazing 128 lengths in the allotted 55 minutes.
