Due to a yellow met office weather warning, with gusts all day of over 40mph, organisers of the market due to take place last Saturday outside the Barge and Bottle, say they had no choice but to postpone the planned market and family fun day until this Saturday (April 2).

A spokesman for Sleaford Town Team, which oversees the event, said: “We can confirm it will go ahead, as planned, alongside the Barge and Bottle, colouring competition entries have an extra week to get creative and we hope to see you there in far more pleasant weather conditions next week instead.

“Apologies for any disappointment caused.”

The spokesman added: “We can’t take the risk as we learned at Christmas that our insurance (covering public liability for all traders) would be invalidated as they’d consider we’d not taken due care.

“We had to make a call by 10am on Friday.

“Just imagine a gazebo (only rated to 25mph winds) took off and cracks someone on the head. Just not worth the risk.”

As well as the Teenage Market this saturday, there will be arts and crafts stalls, tombola, bouncy castle, soft play, colouring competition and a chance to win an HD TV, from 10am-4pm.
