Two teenagers, a boom box, one town

Set in 80s and 90s Halifax, The Historians is the story of a female friendship played out against the backdrop of one town’s great industrial past and the national politics of the Thatcher to Blair years.

Join Chucker and Mucker as they ponder the question: in the end, is the place you’re going more important than the place you’re from?

The Historians premiered at the Underbelly in Edinburgh 2011, winning a Fringe Media Network Editor’s Choice Award and a host of four and five star reviews.

It has since been awarded two waves of funding from Arts Council England to take the piece to new audiences.

Chucker and Mucker are played by Hot Ice Theatre founder, Katharine Markwick and Susanna Hislop, two talented comedic actors with backgrounds in physical theatre, clowning and comedy.

They play 17 characters and create the landscapes of Chucker and Mucker’s childhood with little more than a keyboard, a boom box and the shell suits from off their backs.
