Our winner, picked at random, and their guest, will enjoy dinner, bed and breakfast at the 242-year-old hotel.

Despite its age, Aston Hall is incredibly contemporary, with a luxury feel.

The staff provide a warm, effusive welcome, the luxury rooms – in one of which our winner will stay – are all unique and classy.

For example, the ‘Tang’ room is decorated in a French shabby chic style, in white and blue, and features a grand stand alone bath.

The Sheffield hotel is set in 55 acres of gardens and meadowland, a veritable country retreat on the doorstep of a major city.

The highlight of our luxury prize however is the food served in the Bamford Restaurant and Volante Bar and Lounge – from the pre dinner nibbles and bread, to the full English breakfast.

Aston Hall endeavours to source its food locally, and everything is prepared in house.

The steaks, in particular, are as good as anything you’ll find in the region, and come with a plate stacked with grilled mushrooms and tomato, onion rings and fat cut chips, along with a choice of delicious sauces.

Two full-time pastry chefs bake bread daily, with different flavoured breads on offer at all times.

The desserts will delight anyone with a sweet tooth, the banana fritters with rum and raisin ice cream a real treat.

Aston Hall’s take on the full English breakfast renders lunch entirely unnecessary.
