WIN! Pair of tickets to Belton Spitfire Proms

The event on Saturday 16th June, will not only feature a Spitfire from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but will also include a close-formation air display by the Blades.

And the Guardian has two pairs of tickets to give away to two lucky readers.

Excitement will build as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performs its opening overtures and the crowd cast their eyes skywards to catch a glimpse of the Spitfire.

As it flies into view it will conduct a low-level fly-past above the poplar-lined avenue leading to the house, before returning to perform a dazzling display.

During the interval the Blades four Extra 300 lightweight aerobatic aircraft, piloted by former Red Arrows, will perform a close-formation display.

This will be followed by a charity auction to win passenger flights with The Blades. The money raised will go to the Royal Air Forces Association’s Wings Appeal, which supports serving and ex RAF personnel and their families.

Alec Gordon, general manager for Lincolnshire National Trust, said: “The sight of a Spitfire appearing over the tree line as the first notes sounds is really heart rendering and signals that the audience is in for another thrilling evening at the Belton Spitfire Proms.”

“The edition of the second display promises to cement the event as the aerial concert of the year. The Blades are absolutely amazing to watch and fly so close to each other you think their wing tips will touch.”

The stage will be set on the oval in front of the main house providing a spectacular backdrop. The evening will conclude in a firework display.

There is no dedicated seating, so people can bring picnic rugs, blankets or chairs. Food and drink will be on sale, but people are welcome to bring picnics. There are strict rules and restrictions with regards to umbrellas, gazebos and barbecues.
