late 50s, the Ronettes.

The tour, which visits Buxton Opera House on June 21 and also takes in Glastonbury Festival, will see Ronnie and her American bandperform all the hits which captured love and loss in New York’s Spanish Harlem through the 60s.

Be My Baby, the song which was released in 1963 and had a resurgence of popularity following inclusion on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack is part of the set list, together with tracks like Baby I Love You, Do I Love You and Walking in the Rain.

Songs originally recorded by the group that became successful for other artists, such as I Can Hear Music (Beach Boys) and Chapel of Love(Dixie Cups) will also feature. Long-time fans will also be thrilled with the performances of such Ronettes cult classics as Paradise which was expressly written for Ronnie by the late Harry Nilsson.

In conjunction with the tour, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ronnie released the first new Ronettes recording in 49 years, English Heart.

The concert follows Ronnie’s last UK appearance, in December 2015, when her show played London’s Barbican to critical acclaim, with music journalists noting that her voice still offers a mix of ‘innocence and lasciviousness’ and that there was not a ‘bum note in the lovingly conceived and executed show.’
