Trip organiser and WI president Margaret Kane was delighted to receive a personal letter of thanks and appreciation on behalf of all who contributed.

The letter, from Charles Byrne, director of fundraising for the Royal British Legion, said: “Thank you for your donation to the new British Legion’s Battle Back Centre, as well as helping run the four personal recovery centres which are currently being created across the UK.

“These unique centres will help injured and sick service men and women returning from Afghanistan, enabling soldiers either to return to duty, learn a new skill that will equip them for a new role in the Army or retrain them for a successful future outside of the Armed Forces.

“On behalf of the very many men who will benefit from your kindness, thank you.”

On behalf of Wragby WI, Margaret also organises the monthly Saturday night family bingo sessions at the town hall, where a tombola has become popular with the regular players who attend.

She does this with the help and support of her husband, John, who is usually on duty selling tickets.

November’s event was in aid of the RBL and raised £55, which has also been forwarded to the charity.

At the December meeting of the WI, members and visitors from Bardney, East Barkwith, Horsington, Fiskerton and Langworth WIs were welcomed for an evening of entertainment, provided by Jack of Diamonds.

The songs and sing-a-long went down very well and, following a break for supper, more music and singing rounded off the evening.

Wragby members will be donating £100 – raised from the greetings tree at Christmas and also half the proceeds from the raffle – to the Wragby Defibrillator Fund.
