The Yellowbelly name comes from the colloquial name for anyone from Lincolnshire.

And their mission on the stage is bring classic texts like those of William Shakespeare to established and new audiences by taking fresh and bold approaches to performing the pieces.

The company has been founded by two Gainsborough locals, Grace Noble and Will Hobby.

Will and Grace both graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with First Class Honours degrees, Will in (BA) Acting and Grace in (BA) Costume with Performance Design.

“Yellowbelly aims to bring the works of Shakespeare and other classical playwrights to communities across the East Midlands,” said Will.

“We decided to pool our knowledge, experience and passion for Shakespeare’s texts into a theatre company so that we could inspire audiences and show them that Shakespeare isn’t as scary and difficult as some people make it out to be.”

Yellowbelly’s first production will be the Bard’s comedy Twelfth Night or What You Will, performed by just four actors, at Trinity Arts Centre in the town on Saturday, September 12

“Our exciting debut is a rendition of Twelfth Night which is set shortly after the First World War,” continued Will.

“The story follows Viola, a young lady who disguises herself as a man to work for a Count whom she later falls in love with, only to be pursued by the woman the count loves.”

The production starts at 7.30pm and tickets priced £8 (£6.50 concessions) are available now from the box office on 01427 676655 or online at www.trinityarts.co.uk
