Age UK store closing after almost 28 years in Sleaford

A Sleaford charity shop which has been open for almost 28 years will have its last day of trade on Monday, March 27.

Age UK, in Southgate, is managed by Catherine Bartram who has had the role for 10 years.

The store is coming to the end of its lease on Friday, April 28.

The decision was then made to close the shop as of Monday, March 27.

Age Concern, as it was originally named, merged with Help the Aged in 2009 to create one of the two Age UK shops in the town.

Twelve volunteers currently work at the Southgate shop.

Catherine Bartran said some volunteers will move to the other Age UK store,further along the street, while others are retiring.

She said: “There are volunteers that have worked here for 25 years, they have dedicated a lot of their time.”

On the closure, Catherine said: “It is very sad but staff are still getting support from Sleaford residents.

“Trade is still going very very well.

“Even though they know we are closing, people are still bringing in stuff.”
