Boston branch of high street chain announces closure
The Boston branch of a high street chain has announced it is set for closure.
Select – a long-standing tenant at the town’s Pescod Square Shopping Centre – will be closing on Tuesday (January 13), the branch revealed yesterday on Facebook.
The post stated: “It’s with full hearts and a touch of sadness that we share the Boston Select Store will be closing on 13th January 2026.
“This store has been more than a place to shop – it’s been a place where friendships were formed, familiar faces became family, and our team had the joy of serving this community every day.
“We want to thank each and every customer who walked through our doors, supported our team, and shared kind words along the way. Your support meant more than you know, and we’ll always be grateful.”
While Select was not an original tenant when Pescod Square Shopping Centre opened in 2004, it arrived in its early years, opening in the summer of 2006.
Speaking to The Standard, centre manager Lisa Fitzgerald said: “Of course, any store closure comes with much sadness, for the centre, the town, but more importantly the staff at Select.
“Retail has and continues to struggle in our town as shoppers choose to shop online or go elsewhere.”
Select has been approached for a comment.
