Boston opticians’ reassurance amid Covid-19 lockdown

An opticians in Boston is reassuring people in the area it is open for essential care, despite closing its doors for routine sight and hearing tests amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The offer of support comes in a letter to the paper from Specsavers’ branch in Wide Bargate.

In it, store directors Amy Marshall, Joanne Curtis, and Asa Elkington open with a pledge to fellow key workers, saying they wish to support them to ‘stay on the frontline to support all of us at this challenging time’.

“We would like to thank all of them for all that they are doing,” they continue, adding that the needs of such workers are being prioritised at this time to ‘recognise their sacrifice’.

Addressing the public at large, the letter continues: “If you have any changes to your vision or hearing, or have a problem with your glasses, contact lenses or hearing aids, please give us a call in store on 01205 353 263.

“We will help you over the phone, and only ask you to come down to the store if it absolutely necessary.

“We are following Government guidelines in order to keep our customers and colleagues safe.”

They add: “At this time of great pressure on our NHS, both locally and nationally, we want to reduce that pressure by continuing to use our professional expertise across eye and hearing services to provide essential care.

“We are committed to the community here in Boston and look forward to the time when our town centre returns to normal and our community comes back together, stronger than ever.”
