Brigg second in ‘Best’ competition

It was a close run thing but in the end Brigg had to settle for second place in the competition to be ‘Britain’s Best High Street’.

The winner was the Ayrshire seaside resort of West Kilbride.

Brigg shared the runners-up spot with Twyford in Berkshire.

A deputation from Brigg Business Partnership travelled to London’s Admiralty House for the Awards Ceremony last week.

Business Partnership Chairman Malcolm Bailey and Committee member Chris Darlington led the Brigg campaign, with banners urging people to vote for the town on line.

Judges visited the town and praised the initiatives in and around the town centre to better the shopping experience.

There was stiff competition though, but Partnership members were pleased with the impact and the number of votes Brigg attracted in achieving second place.
