The Local Food for Thought event will bring local producers and food experts together to help people in the Boston area improve their knowledge of healthy food, how to prepare it for tasty meals and where to buy it from.

The event is the first to be held by the Boston Town Team, funded by Boston BIG Local and supported by Boston Mayflower.

Jenny Elwick, from the Boston Area Chamber of Commerce, which is behind the Town Team said: “The event will be fun for all the family, but with a serious message to encourage healthy eating using local produce. We have a huge selection of local produce and such a great response from local businesses who want to be involved.”

As part of the day, people will be able to meet local producers, try home-grown Lincolnshire produce, get advice from a nutritional therapist, take home recipe cards and try free warming soup or freshly made smoothies.

There will also be advice on how to grow your own fruit and vegetables, local producers selling their wares on stalls, and advice from Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service Health Trainers.

The event is free to attend and will be held at the Market Place, with stalls inside Blenkin Memorial Hall from 1-4pm. The smoothie making bicycles will be placed near the Ingram Statue in the Market Place.
