The fast food chain – which closed its UK outlets on March 23 amid the lockdown – has revealed it will reopen 15 restaurants for delivery only from 11am on May 13.

On social media, lots of people questioned why McDonald’s hasn’t yet decided to reopen any northern outlets – with many fuming: “Ronald McDonald is obviously a southerner.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “These 15 restaurants were chosen for their proximity to our distribution centre as we slowly but safely seek to reopen our restaurants and restart our supply chain.

“Rest assured we’re working hard to reopen more restaurants at the right time.”

There’s also good news for non-meat-eaters.

The McDonald’s spokesperson added: “We’ve reviewed our limited menu and will add the Vegetable Deluxe to the menu and Veggie Dippers to both our main menu and Happy Meal.”
