Coronavirus: Latest updates on council service closures and what is open

Councils are beginning to give more clarity regarding the running of some its services.

Council meetings

All formal council meetings have been suspended for the immediate future and LCC is establishing alternative mechanisms for our decision-making process.

But, as always, those decisions will be fully transparent and publicised, so that members of the public can hold us to account on what we are doing.

Heritage sites

LCC has taken the decision to close our heritage sites until further notice, to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus.

Libraries

Following the latest Government advice please be advised that all Library-run activities and events have been suspended until further notice.

Some libraries may close so please check with them directly before travelling.

The following libraries are now confirmed closed until further notice: Branston, North Hykeham, Pinchbeck and Nettleham. Welton will be closed from midday 21 March.

Children's Centres

Children's Centres in Lincolnshire are set to close from today (Friday).

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue

All non-essential Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue events including charity, recruitment and school and community events are postponed until further notice.

Firefighters will respond to all emergency calls as usual, and have put measures in place to protect staff such as increased hygiene protection.

Community advice will be provided but direct contact is limited to those most at risk of fire and other emergencies.

Procurement

The council says: "We understand how important cash flow is to our providers and continuing to pay providers on time is being given high priority.

"We're also exploring any financial help we may be able to give providers experiencing financial hardship as a consequence of Covid-19.

"Any council provider experiencing temporary cash flow problems as a direct result of Covid -19 should phone their LCC contract manager who will see if we can offer support.

"We are continuing to procure contracts to maintain business as usual wherever possible, but are happy to discuss this with providers in relation to specific projects"

East Lindsey District Council

Embassy Centre, Skegness

The Embassy Theatre has now responded to government guidelines by announcing closure until April 2020. Shows have been rescheduled and new dates are available on their Facebook page.

Leisure facilities

Following the latest updates regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, Magna Vitae has taken the decision to close all of its leisure venues.

All leisure venues will close until further notice from closing time today (Friday)

*Elsewhere, some planned mass gatherings are still going ahead along the coast.

At the Golden Palm Resort Holiday Park in Ingoldmells, Blue Anchor have decided the Lincolnshire Family Darts Festival from March 19-23, estimated to attract about 600 people, will continue.

A statement reads: "At Blue Anchor Leisure, the health and safety of our guests and our team is our top priority, we want to reassure you that we have increased our cleaning procedures across our holiday homes and all of our public areas and will continue to do so throughout your break. We have now installed contactless payments in all areas of the park and recommend the use of this facility during the weekend instead of cash.

"We can confirm that we have not had any outbreaks of the Coronavirus on our parks and all facilities will be open as usual for the weekend break."
