Countdown is on to Made in Sleaford!

Organisers at North Kesteven District Council are putting the final plans in place for the spectacular that celebrates all that is made within the town, with plenty for visitors to see and do at the family-friendly, free event on October 7 and 8.

The aim is to educate people about just how much is still made in Sleaford, give companies an opportunity to raise their profile, show people what they do, promote themselves to potential customers and suppliers and attract potential recruits and apprentices.

Based at the National Centre for Craft and Design and Navigation Wharf – the area at the heart of Sleaford’s industrial history – it provides a unique opportunity for local businesses and people to connect and find out more about each other.

While the focus on Friday will be on schools, the event is still open to the public. Up to 300 youngsters will be taking part in specially designed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities with a range of local businesses including SHD Composites (whose carbon fibre components have been involved in a Guy Martin speed record attempt this year), Sleaford Quality Foods and Moy Park.

Coun Marion Brighton, Leader of North Kesteven District Council, said: “Last year’s Made in Sleaford was a huge success and I am sure this year will be the same.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for people to find out more about what’s made in their town, and what was previously made in Sleaford in years gone by.

“It is free to attend and I encourage everyone to pop along. You might be surprised by what you find out.”
