The resourceful owner of a hairdressing salon closed by lockdown has adapted to sell ice creams instead.

The resourceful owner of a hairdressing salon closed by lockdown has adapted to sell ice creams instead.

Luke Daniels, who runs the once busy Urban Angels salon in Navenby, decided to put its space and licence to good use while lockdown prevents him from cutting locks.

He invested in training and resources to open Urban Gelato & Milkshake Bar in Courtyard Mews, off Grantham Road, just while lockdown lasts, serving gelato, milkshakes, tea and coffee.

He managed to source the ingredients and equipment in record time to set up the bar within 10 days of having the idea. Customers have 15 flavours to choose from including Oreo, Baileys, Mint and Toffee.

Luke said: “We have the space to operate within the social distancing rules and we are very excited to be able to serve all our loyal customers and more during these difficult times.”

The salon was formally on Tuesday by Woodhall Spa ex-motorcycle racer Steve Plater who brought along his own machine.

Three times British Champion Steve has won the prestigious Isle of Man Senior TT, North West 200 and enjoyed success at Endurance racing.

He is now a TV presenter and ambassador for Ducati overseeing its Tri-Options Cup series, supporting the British Superbike Championship and rides in demonstration events.
